Open House Tours
Enjoy free admission to the W.K. Kellogg Manor House and Bird Sanctuary in celebration of W.K. Kellogg’s birthday!
Every year, the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station (KBS) hosts our Sustaining the Vision event at the W.K. Kellogg Manor House and Kellogg Bird Sanctuary to celebrate the philanthropic legacy of cereal magnate, W.K. Kellogg (1860-1951). The W.K. Kellogg foundation deeded the property in 1952 to Michigan State College now MSU’s Kellogg Biological Station used for education, research, and conservation.
The W.K. Kellogg Manor House, the Kellogg family’s former summer home on Gull Lake, will host an open house celebration from 1-5 p.m. Admission is free. Public tours will be offered; the last tour departs at 4:15 p.m. In honor of our 90 years at the estate this year enjoy character portrayals of the 1920’s residence of Eagle Heights. Character portrayal include W.K. Kellogg, Dr. Carrie Stains, Sister Hester, and others. For more information, please call 269-671-2160.
Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will also offer free admission from 11 am-4 p.m. Kellogg established the Bird Sanctuary in 1927 as a refuge for Canada Geese and other migratory birds. For more information, please call 269-671-2510.
Lakeside Concert -Sunday, August 13 3-5 pm
Tours of Manor 4:30-6:30 pm
Bring your lawn chair and picnic lunch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon listening to the Cereal City Concert Band on the lawn of the W.K. Kellogg Manor House.
Following the concert, tours of the Manor House are offered from 4:30-6:30 pm.
Tours begin every 20 minutes with the last tour beginning at 6:00 pm.
Admission to both events is free.

Fall Floral Workshops-
Boxwood Wreath Class-Thursday, November 16 6-8 pm
Participants will create a seasonal wreath using fresh materials consisting of a broad leaf evergreen. This wreath will be accented with a bow consisting of fall colors. After the fall season, this wreath can transition to a holiday wreath with the addition of accents and a bow. All materials will be provided, but bringing sharp pruners is recommended.
Bird Lovers Wreath Class-Tuesday, December 5 6-8 pm
Create a beautiful round wreath using a variety of mixed evergreens, birdseed accents and a natural birdhouse gourd that can be outdoors for seasonal enjoyment by our feathered friends. Bringing pruning shears and gloves is suggested.
Classes are instructed by experienced designer and owner of Gull Lake Landscape Company, Sherri Snyder. Classes are located on the main campus of W.K. Kellogg Biological Station in the Carriage House Classroom. Please use links above to make a reservation. Reservations are required.
Manners at the Manor House
Wednesday, November 15 4:30-6:30 pm.
Is there a child or young adult in your life that would benefit from lessons in etiquette? The Manor House provides an introduction to manners in a 45 minute short class which covers topics such as phone etiquette, table manners, proper party behavior and much more. Following class a brief tour is offered of the Manor with focus on how W.K. used his life lessons to become a famous business man and philanthropist. A light snack and a take home etiquette pamphlet will be offered during the event.
The Manor House also offers private manner classes for Scouts. Please inquire with Conference@kbs.msu.edu to book a class for your troop. Our class fulfills the listening for the Past Badge and Etiquette Badge.

Friends and families will be delighted while indulging in the Manor House brunch buffet. Brunch offers seating at 10:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day and during the holidays. in many rooms of the Manor. A docent lead tour is offered after each brunch. Enjoy the wonderful historical ambiance of the Manor House while dining in our elegant living or dining rooms, where many fine meals have taken place in years past. We would love to host your next event and delight your guests with superior service. Our gourmet dinner is sure to satisfy even the most sophisticated palate. We offer several opportunities to join us for dinner throughout the year. Before dinner, a docent-led tour is offered for your enjoyment. Michigan Wines Dinner – Friday, May 19 6:30 pm
A delicious five course dinner will accompany perfectly paired wines. During dinner a presentation will provide information on varietals, vintage and terminology to help you discover which wines to serve at your next dinner party. Adults 21 and older only please.
Windmill Walk & Talk – Thursday, August 10 6:30 pm
Our event will start off with a presentation by author and historian Alisa Crawford who will share her knowledge on Michigan’s two original Dutch Windmills.100 miles apart, these two windmills have inspired our dinner which will be procured between the two cities where the windmills now reside.
Beer Pairing at McCrary Hall (adjacent to Manor House)-Friday, September 22 6:30 pm
Is it possible to make beer taste better when paired with the right food? Let our chef and local brew masters assist in answering this question while tasting a wide variety of beers and delicious small plates. Price includes all food and beverages. Adults 21 and older only please.
Murder Mystery Dinner – Friday, October 27 6:30 pm
Join us for a night of great food, suspense and a whole lot of fun. Dinner price includes program.
Murder by Design: Behind the Eight Ball – circa 1923. You are invited to spend an evening at this area’s most infamous and notable Night Club, the Eight Ball. Located in the basement of Lou’s Pool Hall. Come join Johnny Manhattan, owner of the Eight Ball, he is waiting inside to show you a good time. But, everything is not as it seems.
Holiday Mixology -Thursday, December 7 6:30 pm
Learn the art of making a great cocktail from local partners in our community and the talented bartenders of the Manor. We will use seasonal ingredients to create festive cocktails to put all in the holiday spirit. Small plates will be offered throughout the event.
Enjoy the warm glow of the fireplace and twinkle lights while dining on a gourmet four-course dinner in either the living or dining room of the Manor House.We are sure you will want to make this a holiday tradition for years to come.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS: Reservations must be cancelled at least two (2) business days prior to the event for a full refund. If the Manor House cancels an event due to inclement weather or other act of god then you will be credited for the entire amount and notified of the cancellation.
Tours during the Holidays
Tours are offered from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on: Friday, November 24 and Saturdays, November 25, December 2, 9, 16 and 23
$5.00 per person kids/adults/seniors. Children 4 and younger are free. Members are free.
The W.K. Kellogg Manor House is beautifully decorated each year for the holidays and hosts a variety of seasonal events during November and December.
Get into the holiday spirit by attending our annual Holiday Walk! The Manor is fully decorated in holiday grandeur and is sure to bring cheer. Stroll through each room of the Manor and complete your holiday shopping with handmade items from vendors near and far. The Holiday Walk is sure to become your new yearly tradition. A guided tour, concluded by hot spiced tea and cookies, presents a history of W.K. Kellogg’s life, career and former summer estate while also creating ideas for your own holiday decorating. Tours run from noon to 5pm; last tour departs at 4pm. Tours last about 1 hour.
Holiday Walk & Market Shopping
During the holidays the Manor has been transformed into a marketplace full of one of a kind gifts created by local artists. Shopping through the Manor is offered daily Monday through Friday beginning Monday, November 27 running through Friday, December 22 from 10 am until 3 pm. There is no fee for shopping.
Meet the Artists Wednesday, November 29th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Free
Several of the artists selling during the walks will be on-site to talk about their works. Cash bar available.
Family Night – Thursday, December 14 – 5:30-7:30 pm. $5.00 per person, members free.
Bring the whole family out for a night of fun at the W.K. Kellogg Manor House. Warm up by the fireplace after taking a stroll along the beautiful waterfront. Bring your snowshoes, sleds and other warm gear to take advantage of the large grounds. Pose in front of the gorgeous tree or fireplace to grab a family picture. Enjoy hot chocolate, crafts and other fun activities inside the Manor House. Shop for one of a kind gifts in our market and take a self-guided tour of the home to learn the history of former cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg.
